A group of Instructor candidates celebrates the successful completion of their Instructor Evaluation in San Juan Puerto Rico. The diversified group received their training through Akua Sport in San Juan, Puerto Rico and will be teaching through out the Island.

Sad News
 The Diving world has lost another pioneer. SSI Instructor Trainer & Platinum Pro 5000 Diver and author of the widely circulated "Secretos del Mar" forum Ernesto (Tito) Rodriguez passed away in April 2007. He leaves behind his wife, SSI Instructor Claudia Pastorino.
Tito was the founder of Instituto Argentino de Buceo, one of the most respected SSI Diver & Instructor Training Facilities in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He introduced thousands of divers to the underwater world in oceans all over the planet. Through his monthly e-newsletter "Secretos del Mar", Tito shared his lifetime dedication to environmental education as well as his photographic skill with over 250,000 divers around the world. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

There is an SSI Dive Shop and Liveaboard operation in Utila Honduras that is seeking a full time SSI Instructor with management experience and several support staff. Must hold Advanced Open Water Instructor or higher credentials. Couples are encouraged. This is a permanent position and would require a working contract of at least 1 year. The positions will be available within the next 60 days. Must be fluent in English, and other languages are helpful.

SSI at the Fin del Mundo!!!
3000 Kilometes south of Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, you will find the southernmost city on the continent, Ushuaia. Named by the aboriginal people who first inhabited the zone in the language of Yámana, Ushuaia means "Western Port".
A city surrounded by mountains and eternally covered by snow, this is where the Andes meet the ocean. In this beautiful place at the end of the world, SSI has a new dive center ready to help you discover a new underwater world.
Ushuaia Divers, owned and operated by Carlos Giugia, brings us the opportunity to explore the Beagle Canal, wrecks, kelp forests and diving with sea lions! Diving from the boat or from the beach, you will discover a diversity of sites that will surprise you with every dive, not only underwater, but also with the breath taking views above the water’s surface.
The Dive Center offers all the equipment you will need, including Dry Suits, something you will appreciate in these frigid waters! Water temperatures range between 36 - 40 Fº in the winter (March-November) and 46 - 50ºF during the summer (December-March). The good news is that the visibility in these waters can reach 80+ feet in the winter months!

Recent SSI ITC completed in Sonora, Mexico
Four new members became SSI Instructors in San Carlos, Mexico last month. Pictured are SSI IC Pat Dunn, SSI IT MIke Huhn with the four new members, Christopher Goodwill, Abraham Alcantar, Russell Fontaine and James Ogilvie.
They will begin teaching through Ocean Sports Dive Center in San Carlos. Congratulations!!!
